I understand the main idea. Same that most people talk in such videos etc like making pictures in your brain. The crazier the picture, the better we are going to remember. But after this I am stuck and no idea what to do. There are so many words. How can we anchor thousands of words and concepts in the same space?

Yes! our brains are great at remembering images and locations. I can remember every room, closet, drawer in my childhood home. The crazier the image the more sticky for our brain. For example, think of something basic like H2O, imagine 2 hydrogen balloons floating like pigtails from a giant blue face holding their breath (oxygen). Remember images with H2O by the kitchen sink. Use what works for you, but the very basic idea is to turn abstract information into images because our brains remember images better. Attach the images to locations you already know well, and there is your memory palace.

that's actually so cool!! when I was taking Japanese in high school, my sensei would teach us in a similar way. except she would relate the characters to physical things. like the character in hiragana for MO, looks like a fishing hook so she'd use the example of MO fish for us to remember the sound and the character. it was actually super helpful and helped me remember even years after graduating

I was able to follow and loved your video about the superfoods (thank you so much!! ☺️). But, I struggled to keep up with this one, possibly because I have zero familiarity with Japanese. It seemed as though you were relating sounds in the phrase to similar sounding objects in English. Is that right? Kono/cone, etc. I watched several times, but stayed stuck on the first word, and then lost the thread. Thank you for taking the time to relate it to language learning, as I was just pondering that today!
