Have you ever looked out at the ocean while the sun is setting, you know when the water explodes into a million golden sparkles? That was the exact moment I wanted to capture but in an engagement ring.  Except that task was near impossible. There was wave after wave (pun intended) of sketches and failed attempts. the rows of waves just took up too much space that they only fit on a super wide band (nothing wrong w wide bands, just wasnt the look I was going for). so that meant we could only fit one row of waves but i still couldnt solve the big problem. How do you fit the *feeling* of the entire ocean onto a band that still feels feminine and classic? I gave up on the project. 3x. Then kept coming back to it. The idea kept gnawing at me. we explored laser engraving and computer generated designs but those designs fell flat and didn't capture the way that the ocean just feels alive. So I decided we would hand engrave it. Stroke by stroke, each tumbling wave is carved meticulously by a little sharp tool called a graver. It takes an enormous amount of skill, experience and patience, and each piece is truly a one of a kind piece of art.  And yes, Taylor Swift, who could arguably have any ring in the entire world, now wears an engagement ring that was hand engraved by the same technique.  If you love vintage rings, this is a detail that truly makes it feel like a heritage piece. After all the challenges, the troubleshooting, the doubts, the failures, we ended up with this: the light waltzing on the ocean waves at sunset, carved by hand, forever in gold. #marquise #handengraving #vintageengagementring #bijoulab #labdiamondring #labdiamonds #latticeworkpetalprongs #labdiamondengagementring
