Well said brother, I myself am a carpenter for 15 years now it has to start with passion my wife was not as supportive as yours coz I have a MBA degree but it's not was I wanted to do I left my job and started with small tools. I started buying one tool every month. also you need to know your strength and weakness do not take more than you can bite. also build a relationship with material suppliers. also know you won't always have jobs so you have to be be able to build things that's you can sell during that down time. I will make a video on this coz I will type the entire day lol. as a carpenter you don't only build kitchens and bedroom cabinets most of the time it's the small things like floating TV cabinet shoe boxes and chest cabinets ext. remember you learn continuously I'm am learning to advertise I'm new on social media coz all my projects I got from word of mouth and flyers. keep pushing brother our degrees need to work for us coz it's one thing being a carpenter but it's another thing being a business man.
