He is a great leader for his people and Azerbaijan is a prosperous, successful model of what can be achieved when Islam is taking a back seat to rational thinking and cooperation with other countries, instead of constantly fighting them in the name of Jihad, as Azerbaijan's neighboring country to the south- Iran- unfortunately does. Both countries are Shia Muslim, one is a success story, the other -with same amount of oil- is a fanatic dictatorship which is in economic collapse, due to its own extreme ideology, mistakes and mismanagement. The biggest ethnic minority in Iran- about %30 of the population, same as the Persians who are in control- are actually Azaris, same as in Azerbaijan. It would benefit both Iran and the rest of the world if those Azari citizens take the lead in Iran and guide it towards a more moderate, rational form of Shia Islam, same as their kin in Azerbaijan has adopted.
