When someone says something bad about Azuma Naoki but I genuinely don't play when it comes to him 😳 Naoki is all in all a very intelligent, determined, and helpful boy but with low self-worth, a lot of self-loathing, and a sense of perfectionism due to the pressure his mother constantly kept putting him under. In some of Taizan5's panels in his manga "Takopi's Original Sin" or "タコピーの原罪", Naoki is shown to have a crush on Kuze Shizuka, a fellow 4th grader in his school. This is because she resembled his mother, turned to him for help, saying he was the only person he could turn to, and "never gave up on him". This shows that Naoki's self-esteem is based on people's (especially his mother's) praise which is why he's so helpful. He's also quite jealous of his brother, Azuma Junya, because he was usually the one who got the attention which he so desperately craved from his mother. In conclusion, Naoki depends on the validation of others to gain meaning rather than finding it himself. Being raised to be perfect has completely altered his view of himself. When he is unable to meet the high expectations he put upon himself, he questions if he is able to do anything right at all—yet he always says he's capable and tries to fix everyone's problems. He's literally me guys 🤓
