This!! Someone I know has booked Japan for next year and spent 15k on their trip and I just don’t understand how! My trip cost just under 2k for travel and hotels for 2 weeks and once we arrived there we couldn’t believe how inexpensive everything was!

currently at 4k which includes hotels for 18 nights in tokyo, kyoto, and okinawa, round trip flight to/from Tokyo, round trip flight to/from oki, and 8 experiences. all of our hotels are spacious too. i’d say not too bad so far.

$1500 LA - Tokyo- Vietnam-LA. 10days Shibuya Airbnb for 2 $400 walking distance to train station, Vietnam 3 weeks $800 lodging and food, excellent accommodation, why pay so much!
