@drcolleenreichmann: Had myself some during to re-enact how I show up in sessions🤪 Sometimes I wish I could go back and show myself as a psychologist now to my grad school self-the one who was so concerned with not crossing her legs and keeping her face neutral. In all seriousness, I think that the “blank slate” emphasis totally overlooks the fact that sometimes, your face and body language ARE the intervention. There is healing that happens for when you *truly* listen and react with your full expression. And one last piece on this that I’ve been sitting with lately: expression-less listening was a technique that was developed prior to social media and smart phones. Prior to the epidemic of everyone half-listening to each other in day to day conversations while also scrolling. Reflective, full body listening feels less and less common (which is a problem!) so bringing it into the therapy space feels more important and clinically relevant today than ever before🤔#therapytiktok #philadelphiatherapist #therapy
