@zoechichie: Sharing Japanese culture 🇯🇵🤍✨ One thing I find really interesting about Japanese weddings is something called goshugi (ご祝儀) 💌💴 Instead of bringing physical gifts, wedding guests usually give money to the bride and groom in a special decorative envelope called a goshugi-bukuro. The money is meant to help support the couple as they start their new life together ✨ There are also many little traditions and rules around it. For example, people avoid giving amounts that can be evenly divided, because numbers like 20,000 yen can symbolize separation or divorce. That’s why amounts like ¥30,000 (around $200 USD) are more common for one person, while couples often give around ¥50,000–¥70,000 ($330–$470 USD) depending on their relationship with the couple 🤍 Another thing I found interesting is that people usually use brand new, crisp bills because it shows respect and preparation for the special day 😌✨ This was actually my second Japanese wedding and I really enjoy learning about different cultures through happy moments like this 🌸🫶🏽 #japaneseculture #japanesewedding #culturalexperience #livinginjapan #weddingtradition
