@fishexper: Big Hooks Catch BIG Fish!😳 As much as it breaks my back catching these SUV sized Goliath groupers.. it’s amazing getting to play tug of war with a fish that displaces so much water in milliseconds. They truly are a beautiful fish but they bring a lot of problems. What once was a severely overfished species in the 1980’s, Today these groupers numbers are out of control and pose a nuisance to many Fisherman in Florida. Although FWC opened up a season to harvest these Groupers, you can ONLY keep them from 24–36 inches, from March 1 to May 31. People can apply to a lottery system that only rewards 200 tags per year, which if you get selected be prepared to pay up to $500 to keep one fish. In my opinion, more has to be done to regulate these groupers numbers, but I absolutely love catching them, especially the smaller fun sized ones on light tackle.
