I never thought I’d have to make a post like this about TikTok LIVE Gaming. I joined this community because I genuinely loved streaming, gaming, and entertaining people. I built my platform by doing something different: putting on a costume, creating a character, playing games, and entertaining hundreds of thousands of people. I’ve spent countless hours promoting games, participating in campaigns, competing in events, and supporting TikTok LIVE Gaming. But after Colburn left TikTok and the leadership changed, it stopped feeling like I was part of the community and started feeling like I was being pushed out of it. I’ve been mocked and attacked by other creators. I’ve received messages insulting me personally. I’ve watched people question whether I’m even a “real streamer” because my style of entertainment doesn’t look like theirs. When I tried to defend myself about what was happening, my reactions became the focus instead of what led to them. I went from competing, winning campaigns, reaching high ranks, and feeling like I belonged in this community to suddenly being disqualified from campaigns and excluded from opportunities. I was even invited to the Gaming Gala and placed in first place and then excluded. At times, I struggled to get clear explanations for what had changed or what exactly I needed to do differently. What hurts the most is that I genuinely cared about this program. I wasn’t trying to exploit it. I wanted to be one of its success stories. My content may be unconventional. I wear a costume. I create a character. I mix gaming with entertainment and performance. That does not make me less of a streamer. The people watching me are real. The hours I stream are real. The games I promote are real. The community I built is real. I’m not asking anyone to harass TikTok staff or the creators shown here. Please don’t. I’m sharing these screenshots because I want people to understand what my experience has looked like from my side. I don’t expect special treatment. I want consistent standards, clear communication, and the same opportunity to participate as everyone else when I follow the rules. Maybe my style doesn’t fit everyone’s definition of what a gaming streamer should look like. But being different shouldn’t mean being pushed out. At first, I was told that the problem was that my gameplay was being treated as “background” content. That explanation was difficult for me to understand because many gaming creators naturally alternate between focusing on gameplay and engaging with their audience, and some spend significant portions of their stream in silence while gameplay remains on screen. Later, I was told that the focus of my stream was my mask rather than the game. That explanation confused me even more. My mask is simply how I present myself on camera—it is part of my identity as a creator, just as another streamer’s face, personality, costume, VTuber model, or on-camera persona can be part of theirs. Wearing a mask does not mean I am no longer playing or promoting the game. What has been most frustrating is that the explanations I’ve received for my treatment since the leadership change have never given me a clear, consistent understanding of what I am actually doing wrong. I am willing to adapt when expectations are clearly communicated, but I cannot meaningfully correct something when the reasoning seems to change depending on the situation. I am not asking for different standards. I am asking to understand the standard and have it applied consistently. If hundreds of thousands of my fans and viewers watch me for hours playing a game, I am actively promoting it. That is what promotion is. To be continuously disqualified and kicked out of everything under the new leadership is rough. I just wanted to play games, entertain people, and belong.
