Yes, it’s commonly used for glaucoma, but it can also help detect or monitor issues involving the: • optic nerve • retina • brain • pituitary gland • stroke-related vision changes • neurologic disease • medication toxicity • unexplained vision loss The pattern of vision loss can give us important clues about where the problem may be — the eye, the optic nerve, or the brain. So while it may feel stressful or annoying, visual field testing gives information we can’t get from a routine vision check alone.
