@itsmarizavillarreal: I named my Vicla Tlazōlteōtl after the Mexica deity connected to purification, war, sexuality, fertility, and transformation. Tlazōlteōtl was known as the sin eater. A deity tied to the purification of human excess, pain, chaos, and contradiction. She represented the understanding that people are not one thing. We carry destruction and creation at the same time, and transformation often comes through struggle, survival, and truth. She was also associated with warfare and power, which felt fitting for this build. Vicla culture and Chicano art have always been deeper than aesthetics. Chicano is about reconnecting to Indigenous identity after generations of colonization, displacement, and cultural erasure. The jaguar imagery, featherwork, linework, symbolism, and storytelling woven into lowrider and Vicla culture are all reflections of that connection to home.
