Here’s the part people avoid because it requires personal accountability. If you stay friends with cheaters — if you keep them in your circle, laugh with them, cover for them, “hear them out,” or pretend it’s not your business — you are part of the problem. Acceptance is endorsement. Staying silent is approval. Keeping cheaters in your life says: I’m okay with this behavior. And once you tolerate it around you, you normalize it. That’s how betrayal spreads. This is where it actually starts: Unfriend them. Distance yourself. Stop giving social access to people who betray others. Because remaining their friend is a statement: Your choices don’t disqualify you from my respect. And that’s false. Shunning cheaters isn’t cruelty — it’s boundary enforcement. The same applies to the “jokes.” The little comments: “Men are wired that way.” “It’s just urges.” “It’s human nature.” Those aren’t jokes. They’re manipulation narratives designed to excuse weak character and poor impulse control. Cheating is not biology. It’s choice. Repeated, planned, intentional choice. And women need to stop protecting other women who engage in this behavior too. We do not accept women who knowingly sleep with taken men into our friend groups. Not as confidants. Not as “girls’ girls.” Not as anything. Because loyalty matters. Integrity matters. And character is revealed by who you protect — and who you refuse to make space for. If you want a culture that doesn’t tolerate betrayal, you have to stop socially rewarding the people who commit it. It starts with who you keep around you.
