I think unsolicited advice being okay is very situational. Even if it’s meant as being helpful or in a nice way. If a stranger comes up to me in public, their advice is overstepping regardless. If a family member brings up a topic unprompted, it’s overstepping. Now, if this is a friend or a family member that you’re engaging in an active conversation with and they give you advice, I feel that’s understandable. But too many people in the world feel entitled to give advice that they either don’t need to give, or don’t have the proper knowledge of giving in the first place. 🤷🏻♀️

Depends on the person for their intent. My ex MIL was all about controlling the way I parented. Her unsolicited advice was never welcomed.

I don’t like when other people presume to know exactly how my kids will act. I’m more receptive to someone saying this is what my kid did and what I did for them. Every child is different and no one can predict every child’s personality.
