Japan didn’t surrender because of the atomic bomb. Japan surrendered because now that the USSR had won in Europe, they could now face their opponent in the East. The USSR was already marching towards Manchuria.

The only reason why US got involved in Europe is because western coalition realized that USSR would take over whole Europe. USSR was on a roll with nobody to stop them, it would then start revolutions throughout the western Europe thus making Europe communist. That’s what they were afraid of. That’s why they went into cold war immediately.
