My son is a Diesel mechanic, just finished hs, and enrolled in college for Diesel Mechanics. My question is, do you think it’s a job that will be needed for 20-30 yrs, and what’s the end goal, ie pension, retirement etc

Walmart started one. I got out the oil field for diesel tech. Went to work at a Walmart Dc on there trucks and trailers. They supply it tools. Start you out little over 25. Max out at 40ish. Been doing is for 20 years and man has it changed

that is CRAZY. the school that im going to in georgia is fully paid for and i am looking to start at over $20 an hour 😭😭 the tools were like MAYBE 2 grand

I just got accepted into my local college to become a mechanic. Will see after I’m done if I want to go into diesel. I’m 28 and starting over so I’m just going step by step 😅

I still don’t understand why shops make you buy your own tools. And if they do, they should be paying you 30 bucks an hour or minimum. It’s like working for a tech company and they say you have to buy your own computer. Just my thoughts..
