if you read Chinese novels or manhua the word for she is typed as 她(Tā) and for he is 他(Tā) , but as you can see both of them are actually pronounced Tā , because spoken Chinese it's gender-neutral. Chinese people use pinyin to write ,so some authors when they type Tā they sometimes forget to check the Chinese character...or sometimes Google will translate according to the context. In a lot of BL novels, manhua bottoms are usually described in a feminine way and would be addressed in a feminine way such as wife, girlfriend etc so google translate automatically assumes it's a female character. 😊
