@arendgelders: Lying leg raises are not actually an ab exercise to begin with—at least not if you’re just lifting the legs up and down. In order to actually target the abs, you need spinal flexion, and in order to add spinal flexion to lying leg raises, simply push your hips up towards the ceiling on the top of each rep. #gym #GymTok #bodybuilding #fyp

leg raises are a core stability exercise actually- it trains the core to stabilize the spine when you move the other segments. It is helpful to train core stability in this way since it's a support to better perform your everyday movements. It is important to work on moving the spine, as well, but it's not wrong to train it to maintain a position. Leg raises are not my preferred exercise to train core stability, though. On the other hand, the exercise you're proposing is a core strenght exercise, which specifically trains your core (mostly your rectus abdominus) to produce force. This might also help with hypertrophy to make your abs more visible, as well as having better control on spine flexion.
