Gave it straight to the office because I was poor as all get up no one was going to believe that was mine. 😅 Office lady said if no one asks for it back by next week same time it was mine. I get called down to the office thinking that I was in trouble and they handed me the Gameboy. Pokemon carried me through a bad childhood, into foster care, into adulthood, and now I play the games with my three sons. 🥰

In 1998 I was 11 and my best friend got red version. I was intrigued and we talked about Pokémon every day at school. I begged my mom for blue version. I did chores all week, and that weekend my mom came home from work with a new sealed copy of blue version. I’ll never forget opening the plastic wrap and popping it in my gameboy. Still one of the best games I’ve ever played and it completely changed the way I think about games and I think it changed me as a person as well. It was truly magical.
