The situation here is this guy somehow acquired a shady trailer. He either got an amazing deal or a "friend" needed some help. Either way, the crazy good deal is a red flag the trailer was stolen. That's why he doesn't have the trailer registered, and it's why the story suddenly changed to no longer having the title he originally claimed to hold. lol

If the law requires it then it’s the law for trailers. I’m sure it varies by state. If I was the tow company I would get the law involved and/or get advice from attorney to protect your interests and liability

he had to have a title at one point to get the plates. always make a photo copy of it and put in glove box to......oh I don't know.....prove ownership if ya find yourself in a situation.

South Carolina only requires you to register and tag a car trailer if it exceeds 2,500 pounds in empty (unladen) weight or if you plan to travel out of state. For lighter trailers remaining in-state, registration and license plates are optional.
