No!! They are very different. It’s like being a Marine Biologist and your boyfriend says you have a lot in common with his sister that lives at the Mariners Apartment Complex. Astronomy actually studies about space, involves lots of complex calculations, concepts, projections and observations. These are the people that study the stuff that astronauts bring from space. They help with research for building the ships that take the astronauts to space. They look at stars and determine what they are made of, how old they are, when they would die and stuff. Astrology is a belief that being born under a star cluster determines how your life will go. It’s more rooted in spirituality and divinity than actual study. The girlfriend is very valid in her crash out. Because if you listen to a lot of Astronomers, they have issues with the world of astrology. He really doesn’t listen to her because the similarities stop at looking at the stars. In fact a better comparison would be tell your girlfriend who runs an animal taxi, because she loves animals, that she has a lot in common with your sister the Taxidermist. I’m actually so pissed for the girlfriend right now, Astronomy is not easy. I have a hobby interest in astronomy and it’s still hard for me to keep up with the hobby. I’m so pissed!

No, it’s NOT an easy mistake to make. That only happens if you take NO interest whatsoever in your partner’s career they’ve obviously worked hard for and have been very accomplished in. He really doesn’t care what she does. This is a level of disinterest she should not settle for. Leave him, girl. You deserve better.
