All businesses have operational costs that are tied into the price of their work. The degree of this changes from business to business but it doesn’t exclude your local jewelers who also pay to keep the lights on, equipment maintained, and doors open. If you are looking for a value, there’s nothing wrong w/ alternatives. But thinking you’re escaping this by avoiding popular or known brands is an illusion. The good thing about going for the original designer is that you know exactly what you’re getting. There’s an expectation there when it comes to design, materials, warranties, and craftsmanship. And just bc you don’t agree or see that value, it does not mean it’s not quality or a scam

Agreed wired but the commenter is simply not a customer of SK, not someone who SK want as customer either. The brand brings value to the jewelry. People pay for the brand because it brings them value. And brands undoubtably generate, tangible social impact when you tell someone it’s original otherwise I don’t think this whole economy would work. 😂 Great post loved it think about it a lot.

design and creativity deserve to be paid for, not just materials and labor. that’s how we truly celebrate art!

The problem is that the design doesn’t require as much work or material for them to justify their prices, seems like it’s simple rings connected with jump rings

They’re overpriced yes, but the craftsmanship is among the best I’ve seen.

Agreed it’s so weird! ‘Stylish’ fast fashion would not exist if it weren’t for designers and fashion houses paving the way. They’re expensive because they are the blueprint!

As a small business owner and designer who just got duped by an Etsy store based in India, thank you. It makes me sad when I see or hear people say that they would rather give a larger overseas company that does all the dupes their money over a USA based business owner who is just trying to thrive and chase their dreams. Spineli is definitely a larger brand, but imagine people deciding unanimously to stop spending money on the original designers - they would cease to exist. This is why I hate dupes in every aspect.

I come from the perspective of pharmaceutical patents. You get 5 years, it’s yours, make back all your production costs, do well. After that? No, it’s generics first. Why? Because I’m so sick of companies getting complacent, they stop innovating, and yet the prices continue to rise “because of demand”. Cool, let’s reduce your burden. You’ll play fair in the marketplace or I’ll go to your competitor who will…
