Personally, I think it was a lot of projection on my part. I project my good intentions onto them, I’m sort of blinded to the idea that someone can be nefarious, cold, calculating etc because those things just don’t occur to me. So when situations happen I chalk it up to a mistake, or I misunderstood what they meant. Cheaters think people cheat, thieves think people are thieves and good people assume others are good too.

What I hear a lot is that people who end up with narcs had families who neglected them which is why they fall for the lovebombing. I was and am loved by my family. Being loved and valued was NORMAL for me so the two years with him before he showed me the demon under the surface, I thought I was getting the love I deserved.
