In my opinio, False advertising went out the window a loooong time ago, now it's an every day norm and why scam commercials can be on youtube, social media, online. It's gross what it's come to in the land where nothing is free. It hurts my whole heart.

Digital tags are 100% a precursor to surge pricing. A CEO has already said they would love to increase prices on water and ice cream on hot days.

As a walmart employee, I have WATCHED them change. And deadass they are upping the prices, and then marking them as rollback or clearance, but the prices...are the same. does that make sense? like the price hasn't changed, but it LOOKS like it has, since it's marked clearance and suddenly it was apparently a higher price. But it's not. It's just now more expensive and "on sale" is now the normal price. It's fucked up.

I must disagree with you. It is the manager‘s job to know how the pricing works. It’s also his job to make sure that all his employees know how the pricing works. And if corporate isn’t telling them that that’s a big issue.

I had a similar situation happen when the dynamic pricing was first rolling out in stores. Coincidentally with a pair of shoes for my son. Luckily, the tag had the price listed on it. Here's what happened. There was a pair of shoes and the tag price was $12.99, shelf tag price was $12.99. When I rung myself up at self check out, I noticed that the shoe price now read $18.99 on the screen. I called an employee over who then told me that the $18.99 price was correct and that theyve been j strutted to remove the tags that list the item price and they must have just missed this one so this one time she "will honor the tag price but it should've removed". After that, I havent seen anymore tags with the price printed on them. Thats a significant price change from the shelf to the register and they're counting on you not noticing it as you ring up your items.

I used to work at a Safeway. the night crew came in every night and physically switched over the tags for everything that was going on/off sales. our policy was if the shelf said $3 and it rang up as $18, the customer gets it for $3 and we go figure out why there was a difference. this dynamic pricing issue is going to be a NIGHTMARE for the people working the customer service counter 😭

You’re not overreacting. I have 4 kids and primarily get our groceries from Walmart. It’s already absurdly expensive. I’m going to try to find alternatives for most things, but I just genuinely don’t have time to drive all over creation to boycott them. This is actually evil.

Fill up your cart and purchase each item at a time. If it’s a higher price, don’t buy it. If it’s the lower price buy it, but one at a time. Slow the purchase process down, they’ll lose money because the lines won’t be moving. Then blame it on dynamic pricing. Not shopping there ever again.
