Tony was my publisher and my good friend. I have all of our text messages and emails still, and to this day one of my favorites is from when I was writing (I was the ghost author/co-author for an autobiography of my then partner) and I came upon a scenario where I was having to expose a few people for acting quite badly. I asked him how to approach that situation and he said “if it is integral to the story, and not forced, then don’t worry about. You don’t want to air shit out in a book no one wants to read that, but if it’s important for us to know that part, unavoidably, then they should have behaved better.”
