I like to joke about Shakespeare being mid but he’s definitely not. He’s not a personal favourite of mine but he is THE writer in English. I think it’s better to think about him from a language standpoint rather than focusing on his plotlines. I think his characters and internal conflicts are great too but really he was just a genius when it came to messing with language

This entire trend is so dumb. Writing and media has evolved as time goes on. So yeah maybe Shakespeare doesn’t have the depth of newer stories but it’s still important to read it because it’s part of history and it helps you understand how to comprehend literature.
