Most of these shippers want to deal with brokers rather than carriers. Brokers do act as a shield for shippers. Just don't deal with them if there is a way to work with shippers directly but I still do think we need brokers just as shippers need them.

Truth is …. most shippers prefer dealing with brokers instead of carriers. Brokers act as a buffer and make things easier for them. If you can cut out the middleman and work directly with the shipper … that’s always the better deal. But whether we like it or not .. brokers still have their place in this business because a lot of shippers depend on them to keep freight moving.
