your last point is so true! I had a really good app idea. I talked to several experts about how to make it happen. every single person I talked to in the industry told me that if the idea is good and has even a CHANCE at succeeding, a billion dollar corp would just steal the idea themselves. unless you can prove it's proprietary and get it patented, there's pretty much ZERO chance to succeed against these billionaires.
