M :
being with her felt like one of the happiest things that had ever happened to me. I gave her my time, my care, and honestly a part of myself that I don’t usually show to people. I thought maybe, little by little, we were building something real together. But no matter how hard I tried, I could still feel that her heart was stuck somewhere in the past. She still thought about her ex, and I think a part of her never fully healed from what happened before me. I wanted so badly to be enough for her, to make her happy enough to move forward, but feelings don’t work that way. Sometimes love alone just isn’t enough to fix someone who’s still hurting.
In the end, she told me she wasn’t ready for a new relationship, and even though I saw it coming, it still hurt more than I can explain. It hurt knowing that I loved someone who wanted peace more than love, and knowing I couldn’t compete with memories I was never a part of. I didn’t want to make her stay if her heart wasn’t fully with me, so I chose to let her go, even when every part of me wanted to hold on tighter. I decided to give her the space she needed, because if you truly care about someone, sometimes the kindest thing you can do is stop trying to force them to stay.
I still think about her more than I should. Some days I wonder if she misses me too, or if I was just a temporary place for her to rest while she was healing from someone else. But despite everything, I can’t bring myself to hate her for leaving. I know she was hurting too. So I’ll keep loving her quietly from a distance, without asking for anything in return. And if one day she finally heals and decides to come back, I’ll still be here with the same heart that never really left. If she needs me, I’m here. And even if she doesn’t, honestly… I think a part of me will still be waiting anyway.
