@pinkspidercos: there’s such a big issue with overconsumption in the cosplay community and i am somewhat guilty of this too but there are several things i consider before buying a new cosplay (i don’t have the money or space to be impulsive with my purchases and i don’t wanna add to the 92 million tons of textile waste the world produces per year where i can possibly avoid it) 🕷️🩷 can i find the cosplay on vinted/second hand somewhere? i will alwaysss try and buy second hand before i buy new, it’s significantly cheaper and less wasteful 🕷️🩷 how long have i wanted the cosplay? i try extremely hard not to buy cosplays impulsively and plan my purchases unless i happen to find a well priced second hand cosplay of a character i’ve been thinking about cosplaying for at LEAST 6 months if not longer 🕷️🩷 how important is quality vs price? some cosplays i am very specific about wanting high quality versions (usually dokidoki SR) but some i’m less concerned about, especially if the design is simple or i want to add a lot of extra details (then i’ll go for R or aliexpress or whatever quality a second hand version is) 🕷️🩷 will i actually like the cosplay on me? if i’m not sure how i’ll feel about it, i usually get a wig and do a closet cosplay before i commit to buying a canon outfit 🕷️🩷 can i borrow the cosplay someone? if it’s a cosplay i want to test before committing to buying one and my partner or one of my friends has a wig/outfit and would let me borrow it i’ll do that (if you borrow anything from someone it is SO important you take extra special care of it so it gets back to them in the same state they gave it to you in, i’ve heard sm stories about people ruining other people’s cosplays. and always make sure you give it back. don’t be a dick.) - - 🔑 cosplay community cosplay tips for beginners cosplay advice for beginners cosplay makeup cosplay sustainability cosplay fast fashion 💠 #yelancosplay #genshinimpactcosplay #genshincosplay #GenshinImpact

Unfortunately I would be careful buying on Vinted. I paid quite a bit for an obanai cosplay despite it being cheaper new bc I didn't want to use fast fashion, just for only the pants and leg wraps to arrive when the full cosplay was advertised. It's been two weeks and vinted still have not got back to me ♡

I personally put a bunch of cosplays in my favorites / cart, keep them there for a GREAT time and then look at them again to figure out if I still want them, I do that for everything actually, not just cosplays :)

Yes yes yes 🙏🏻 I usually try to recreate the cosplay with what I have at home and what i can sew with old clothes I still have. I only bought 2 cosplays so far and I am proud of all the cosplays i’ve made myself 🥹❤️

yes this!! i usally do a closet cosplay with what i have at home before actually buying a cosplay i often impulsivly spend money but im trying to stop doing that and taking a few weeks to actually think about if i really want/need what im about to buy has really helped me to spend money more mindfully

I feel bad for buying a celestia cosplay impulsively even though she’s one of my fav characters of all time 😭 but the cosplay included styled wig was only 7€ so I felt like it was a one time chance 💔
