I get the thought with weeds cause same but my thought is strawberry make shoots that put out baby plants and that’s how you get a ton of plants. How does this work with plastic.

I planted 12 plants last year, pulled off all the blossoms and let them take over the garden bed. They sent off so many runners that I now have over a hundred and they are LOADED with berries this year. For June bearing give them a light fertilizer in the spring and then once fruiting is done give them a good feed. The number of berries you get next year is determined in the fall the prior season. So fertilizing the plant will encourage lots of berry potential.

you could always have the kids paint little rocks to look like strawberries so that bird will be deterred when your actual strawberries start popping up.

Are you able to eat the strawberries the first year? I don’t know where I seen it but I thought I seen something where you didn’t get strawberries the first year🫣 I ask because I’ve been wanting to do but I always end up killing my plant because I forget to water in the winter 🙃🤣
