I feel your pain. I am in Direct Primary Care and I felt SO guilty when I made the decision but I came to realize that traditional outpatient primary care was setting me on fire for others’ warmth and the flames would eventually consume me. I can be a really good DPC doc to 500 people and have some energy left to enjoy my life or I could burn out completely and leave medicine. DPC it is! And I love that I can give low cost care to the folks the system leaves behind. Make the decisions you need to make to find something that looks like balance to you. It’s enough. Neither of us is required to bear the burden of a broken system alone. We do what we can do.

As a black woman and LVAD patient, thank you for your service. I also appreciate your transparency. My GP is discontinuing practice in July due to overwhelm. I’m sad we’re losing good physicians but as a former teacher-I get it.💗🙏🏾

I’m an anesthesiologist and I truly can’t IMAGINE how hard it must be to take good care of patients in the outpatient setting. Our healthcare system is ruining the ability for good doctors to be good doctors. I’m glad you did the right thing for YOU ❤️

i get this so much 😭 im still a med student but love music sm and its so hard to have passion in other things without feeling like you’re wasting time or betraying the system. i value my health and well being and its so hard to do that while wanting to appear hard working to residencies & seem like a team player :(
