I had a teacher that taught me how to fix all of his former mess ups too. He explained that he didn't know any better but I wasnt gonna do shotty work like he did. Dude was 4 years older than me but had the wisdom and temperament of a calm old man. I learned so much through his patience and humility.

as tradesmen we try really hard to teach others how to avoid mistakes we've made in the past and pass our (sometimes painfully acquired knowledge) to the next batch of folks. Sometimes that means we were wrong, but your apprentice will never forget the times he got to be right!
