@suadcurry: Quran In Ethiopia, part 2 many Quran students engage in the ancient tradition of writing the Quran on wooden boards as part of their religious education. This practice is rooted in the Islamic scholarly tradition where the written word is revered, and students often learn by copying the sacred text by hand. The wooden board, known as lohe, serves as a medium for writing with a stylus or ink. The process requires great patience and precision, with students carefully copying verses of the Quran, which helps them memorize and internalize the holy text. This method, passed down through generations, emphasizes discipline, spiritual connection, and the preservation of the Quranic teachings in a tangible and sacred form. In rural areas, this practice can still be seen, where young students often sit under the guidance of a teacher, writing the Quran while learning its meanings and recitations. 📍 Ethiopia and Kenya border moyale
