Dismantling the village/community was a cruel joke. I’ve been assembling my dream team of folks with various capabilities and expertise, thanks for the tips on communication devices.

I somehow don’t think this made it into the weather preparation section of the algorithm. I would’ve thought that TikTok could sort based on surface details but maybe it’s less complex than that.

I'm a ham, I have been saying that ppl need to get to know a radio asap. There is so much to it that it would be hard for some that has never used one to call for help. Yes a good chance that if you turn on a radio that you find, the first thing that pops up will probably be a frequency that was programmed by the user. But If you just go and buy one and just let it sit there not knowing what to do, it won't work. I've been telling my friends and family for a few years now to get their ham radio license. Even their GMRS license. With your GMRS license you don't need to take a test. It's just a fee that I think is $30 now. It's good for you and your immediate family. You get one call sign for everyone. I have both. I picked up him radio because I was traveling a lot. you never know might find myself with no service and I did, A LOT. Learn before it's to late lady's and gentleman. Be prepared!

10 yr New Englander but spent months in Asheville NC volunteering just after Helene. The grassroots organized community response to climate disaster/shifts was/is INCREDIBLE. So worth studying. All cell/phone comms were down for DAYS, water was down for WEEKS in some places. Then worst/coldest winter in WNC history, then worst wildfire season. Response/comms networks are still going strong💖💖💖

I’d recommend getting into amateur radio, and I’d argue with a cheap SDR scanner it’s very easy to find what ever frequency you’re using. It’s better to do it right and legal, and know what you’re doing, than risk getting fined or your radios confiscated. Meshtastic is a much better medium imo
