Eren is as much a slave as mikisa and ymir hes just a slave to freedom. Hes a slave to his ambition to be free meaning he will always seek the rumbling in every timeline and by the time he tries to stop its already too late. I think hes a tragic character because he wanted this but he also didnt know the world was beautiful and by the time any of them see that beauty he already knows that it will end. But is he wrong ?
