100% agree people need to watch for themselves, but I strongly disagree with the sentiment that people should rely on a police statement. I found the statement from the police to be slanted compared to watching the video repeatedly. (And outside of this one instance, the police shouldn’t be deferred to in their characterization of any event).

And this is why i don’t believe in influencers being pushed/bullied into speaking out about all big subjects just because they have a following and others think they should “use their platform”. If you don’t take the time to find out real facts or find it from the right places and then are turning around and speaking out about something just to check off a box, you could be spreading misinformation to a large group and doing more harm than good even if that’s not your intention. Everyone doesn’t have to touch base or have an opinion on every subject. It’s ok to say “i don’t know” or “im going to wait for the details to come out about that before i speak on it”
