Thanks for the explanation. Some people who 'hate' it cannot even give the bare minimum to explain their dissatisfaction with it. But I have noted your reasons and sorry If I came in an antagonist tone earlier I thought you were one who just hates, but yeah anyways most of the points you explained is valid and it’s mostly why people dislike it, for it’s dishonesty, it not being actually based in TP, the cameos and whatnot. But I do believe each of these points has their certain qualities and for the most part I enjoyed being put in the journey of The Return, it was a very spiritual and reflective experience for me and therefore I came to appreciate it’s bold and Artistic approach. For me one of the most important things is the Artistic Inquiry the show carries and therefore The Return resonated with me alot. And as you said this season is very subjective, and in it’s own way cannot be 'compared' in a traditional sense to other works because breaking down The Return categorically or wtv just won’t make sense in my opinion. And finally All I can suggest is a rewatch, maybe also try to go into Lynch filmography maybe his style of writing and direction will grow on you. (I never had it in my T1 in my first watch so therefore I suggest the rewatch) Again, sorry we got off the wrong foot, now that I understand the perspective I respect it.

I don’t get how one could still have a sour mouth after finishing the season and looking back tbh. by the end it’s obvious the season is structured like an 18 hour film, everything mattered for the greater plot & the things you or any return anti dislike may view as unnecessary suits the szn thematically. this isn’t rly a response to ur criticisms tho, its not like ur saying the season is objectively bad so i don’t see why one would rage at this anyway. twin peaks has always been a disoriented show, and the return just maxed everything out.

the return is very anti-nostalgia. that's the reason why twin peaks doesn't feel the same and why the characters may feel out of character. the whole point of the season and it's main theme is literally the fact that you can't go back, u can't just live in the past and that u have to move on eventually. this becomes even more obvious when Dale tries to save Laura at the finale. But, at the end of the day the return is Lynch being free to do whatever he wants and it just isn't for everyone.

Alright bro i hear you and honestly i can understand why you would feel underwhelmed by these said scenes but imo you're being very hyperbolic in a few parts, like the camera does not zoom out for 15 minutes, its like 2-3 max, and imo the silence makes it feel like its much longer BUT imo this purposeful and is what Lynch intends in making you sink in this world so he creates these frequent atmospherical scenes with apparently no purpose that also reinforce the absurdism in the show which if you actually have seen the show you know that its a really proeminent core of tp as whole, not just the return. Now on your second point about the popular actors/celebrities, I dont see how this would affect the story in any way + about what u said about it feeling forced, well, twin peaks as a whole is known for its quirky characters and that not many times have any normal behavioral patterns ++ you're also wrong on the og tp because Lynch had already worked with Kyle and Jack Nance before so idk how this would feel like an achievement and also Lynch was known for always re-using the same actors in his filmography. IMO I would that this is nothing but a fan service and i dont see anything really bad with it at first glance, maybe you could explain more. Now abt your issue with it not following the same vibe of the first seasons... man idk i dont know what to say for this cuz it just falls under personal preference, personally i absolutely loved the more modern look of the show and could care less about the scenes in tp. And bro couldn't be more wrong about nostalgia bait 😭😭😭 why would they do this while literally rejecting/reinventing the entire core of the show or expand it out of tp? this claim literally does not make much sense when you look at it . Like theres just one scene imo that felt like anything close to "nostalgia" is when Bobby sees Laura's picture and the theme starts playing, that would be the sole expection for ts i think. (lol you spoke abt this in the vid literally after i finished writing that part). The whole part of tp just had to continue, they couldnt simply ignore the whole town, they had to show how are the characters living and shi

my reason for the dislike is simple: We follow a slug of what once was an energetic character with quotes and genuine interest with Cooper and mamy characters keeping it interesting. we literally get dragged out scenes of him slow walking from A to B and it is simply like that the majority of the seaso. its not that fun to watch
