I have used Crowd Health since last year when I retired from my job. I love it and highly recommend it.

As an insurance advisor, I’d be careful with any health sharing plan like CrowdHealth because they aren’t legally required to cover your claims so if you have something catastrophic they don’t HAVE to pay it. I would look into private plans, based on what you said i think you guys would definitely qualify. Not sure what state you guys are in but i’d be happy to help you guys look at those options if you want!

I manage benefits for my company… I haven’t used healthcare.gov personally. However, I’ve helped a few friends/relatives navigate and get coverage. There are some good options there and you may be eligible for a subsidy depending on your income. I’d definitely recommend a high deductible plan, especially if you’re relatively healthy, don’t go to the doctor much, and not taking any (expensive) maintenance meds, etc… some states have their own health exchange platform. However, Florida does not. Residents there utilize the federal exchange…

You aren’t thinking about medically underwritten insurance!!! Instead of discounts based on salary like the ACA/OBAMACARE they provide cheap insurance if you are a healthy individual which you said you were. It Typically ends up being half the price as the public marketplace with a zero dollar deductible and a low max out of pocket. If you are healthy you are not likely to use insurance so they can offer it to you for really cheap. Most people haven’t heard of it because a healthcare professional has to pull all your medical records so you have to use an agent like me.

Anyone should be allowed to open an HSA. That would be a big help to get people to look at other options.

Hidden trap, the health care system or provider can say they really only want plans from x y or z. only insuring against emergencies is crazy
