Many of our parents were emotionally avoidant themselves. They were taught survival over self-expression, so they passed down silence, patience, and “don’t react.” Our generation is finally learning that setting boundaries isn’t disrespect — it’s self-respect!!! I hear you though, its up to us to break these cycles 🔄 although it can be uncomfortable!

I have taught my kids not to tolerate disrespect from anyone, regardless of their age. It's time we break the cycle of blindly accepting behavior simply because someone is older. Many of us were raised to stay quiet and endure it because that's what our parents and ancestors did. Respect should go both ways. Being older does not give anyone the right to be rude, hurtful, or disrespectful. Wrong is wrong, no matter who it comes from.
