I disagree on the sp hate tbh. In my opinion I think sps are a good way to allow us to return to older characters and places to add on to their lore. It shows how a character has changed and grown (e.g. tingyun to fugue) that a buff and a new skin may not encapsulate well since both of those things still need to exist within the bounds of an older character, while an sp doesn’t. However, hsr is VERY swing and miss with their sps and most of them don’t really add anything and look like a new skin more than anything (sw999 and himeko) and we are getting way too much of them rn. I think we can have a game where both sps and new unique characters can exist but hoyo isn’t the one that can do it

I think SPs are fine and cool and I do like them more than having another character. BUT they need to have a reason to be there AND/OR not being the only thing they’re giving us

i feel like the game needs a healthy balance of both new characters and sps. in 3.x there was the herta, dhpt and evernight as sps, a healthy total of 3. in the span of two patches, 4.x has gone 1 over that total with superwolf, sparxie, himeko nova, and mortenax (with potentially two more sps to come). THAT is where the problem lies, to me a cast of a new planet should not be majority sps but majority of new characters.

People saying “it’s a Honkai game” are just giving a lame excuse for the mid designs. Sp’s have a lot of potential but they make them look like their original 5 star 😭

I love Sps but it needs to be regulated for central factions only + once for characters in THAT context (Sparxie). AE and SH should be the only two factions getting consistent Sp’s. Second, they need better designs.

yeah when it’s only popular characters getting this kind of special treatment it’s pretty obvious what the real intent is. if they actually cared about character development and story progression then we would have sampo & luocha sps right now. fugue is my fave though so she’s excused lol

i come from genshin and imo i love sp like alot giving life to old characters in such a fun way i like them alot and like i hate when a new character is annoynced just to be forgotten right away, varesa etc and i dont think hsr does this to much like amhporeous had only 2 sp planarcadia for now 2 its not to many i like them alot

Here's how I agree with you we have a game like gbf. HUNDREDS OF CHARACTERS with new ones being introduced all the time either they are important or side characters. Gbf also has SPs for characters some based on holidays and others based on actual story changes (eustace from gbf is a great example) However where I disagree is how sps are badly designed here. You have things like Katalina and katalina(grand) in gbf they barely changed a thing except maybe the weapon. however gbf still has more rep than star rail so I can let that slide

I love when ppl use the excuse of "Well SP allows the devs to bring back old characters and give them more character development." Really??? If this was true then where is my Seele SP? Bailu SP? Serval SP? Gepard SP? Devs aren't using SPs to help keep characters relevant to the story...it's cheap way to resale characters they know ppl will buy no matter what. They barely even do much to redesign them... Both Sliver Wolf and Himeko basely looks same. Evernight and Sparxie are basely the only two that full archives this SO bit... Fugue as well but everyone else? nah. I don't mind SPs be expect A LOT more than what we got with the last two. I'm not even excited for Himeko anymore, there nothing different about her.. similar outfit, same element and same fucking path.

i agree w the cc you disagree with but, I also agree that this is indeed an outer space game where we're meant to meet a bunch of characters along the way. . I like a mix of both. Making an SP is a sure way to bring old characters back into the story and not be forgotten.
