@gracejihae: Stop eating at ONLY TikTok-famous spots in Korea. I tried Onion and Hanmiok and both let me down in different ways. Here's what to do instead: figure out the specific dish you want, translate it to Korean, and search it in Naver. Many local restaurants will help you with ordering as well. Sorry but Seoul is so overrated!! And the food idk is not the best. I used to live there and my husband is also from there and the best food was away from Seoul. For example Chuncheon best Samgyetang I’ve ever had. South Korea is way more than Seoul I said what I said.

Onion gets their line so big by keeping just 1 or 2 registers open. Head to Sung Sim Dang in Daejeon to see a real "viral" operation. 20 registers constantly flowing. It's on another level

The one chain Restaurant I’ll always stand behind is 한일권. I know you can probably go to smaller specific shops that have better versions of a specific dish but they do a good job all around and it’s a great tour of classic Korean dishes done well. We used to go pretty regularly to the one in the basement of the Microsoft building next to Gyeongbokgung. Also, when my daughter was born, there was a branch right across the street from the hospital so I think I ate there four times in three days lol.
