I feel Snow White (2025) was poorly edited. Racheal was given a script and she greatly followed. However, the film was fast too paced. It shifted so quickly, I couldn’t absorbed any of the scenes.

I think The Little Mermaid was a great adaption. They added onto it without changing too much, like adding the spell that made Ariel forget the kiss as a way to fix a plot hole in the original

I think that they should’ve looked into some of the scrapped scenes and used them since they wanted to do more like for instance with the prince and also widen how Snow White and the prince knew each other if they thought the meeting was weird instead though they wanted to scrap everything just to be different from the original

“Everyone put their heart into this thing” You summed it up perfectly with that sentence there! That’s why some remakes and adaptations just work while other don’t because the ones that don’t work don’t have that love and respect for the original project, even the makers of Shrek when making fun of old Disney movies still respect and understand the old films enough to know which parts made them so appealing to audiences and that’s why their modern/updated fairytale worked so well while becoming its own timeless thing too.

Enchanted also really worked for me as like an affectionate parody of Disney classics BUT retaining the charm and joy and whimsy of what made those classics so iconic! And made with so much love and heart from every detail, I mean don’t get me started on alllll the references! But they weren’t like egregious references and the film didn’t feel like they were ashamed of all these older films, more like they were celebrating them. At the end of the day it’s an original story with original music, both with 2D animation and live action, it really is one of my faves of all time and I wish Disney would tap into that energy some more. I think they tried to with Wish but it just wasn’t written well enough. Broadway composers and lyricists are really the secret sauce here, it needs to be catchy enough for all age groups to love and witty enough to appreciate as you grow up and can spot more complicated rhyme schemes etc

I absolutely hate it when they dare to say they wanted to pay homage to the 1937 film when it's clearly just an insult to Walt Disney himself and especially to Adriana Caselotti. They already knew it was going to flop because in the teaser they only showed scenes that were close to the original, but as soon as the trailer came out... we know what's coming next. I could describe everything that was wrong, but it would take too long; you don't feel that Disney magic, but you can clearly see that it was just created to make money (and they failed)

To me the worst was Mulan. They took a story from a girl who had to prove her strength by using her intellect and having to fight to gain the respect of others around her as well as her family’s honor…into a girl who basically has super powers and someone who doesn’t have to fight for respect, she just gains it automatically, and there are no repercussions.

Snow White is such a simple movie and storyline. There really shouldn’t have been a way to screw up by simply using the source material and modernizing it a bit. Give it the Cinderella treatment and it would have been decent. If you were to take away all the publicity it received and just watched the movie on its own, it still sucks. The issue is that they tried too much to avoid backlash by erasing and attempting to redo things. I remember we weren’t going to have the seven dwarves, but they got backlash on that so they quickly slapped them back into the story. Or at least that’s what it seemed like to me. There were too many new characters they tried to make main side characters, I forgot who I was supposed to care about. Mulan was a better adaptation 😭

i loved snow white soooooooo mych when i was a kid, completely obsessed, my mom says i watched it about 4 to 5 times EVERYDAY. The live action deserved so much better 😭😭😭
