Honda's factory coolant already has additives in it. Where all you have to do is a coolant service which is where you drain it from the petcock. And then just simply refill it. And adjust levels in the expansion tank

What do you need a flush for. Drain and refill is enough

flush is going to cause more issues in the future that coolant is supposed to last like 10 years if it's original and 7 years or 150k if it's not

Apart from draining the block. the engine needs to be brought to operating temp so that the thermostat opens to allow the coolant to circulate properly.

Don’t do this unless you’re also draining the block because you’re going to have left over distilled water/flush detergent left in the system. The radiator petcock does not remove all of the coolant from the system.

just be careful about the ratio. when you flush the system with distilled water, it will not fully drain, some will remain in the engine. when you then refill with the 50/50 mix you are putting it in and mixing it with some distilled water reducing the ratio. if it gets very cold where you live that could be a problem

After you were done flushing the coolant system. I would've also changed all the coolant hoses(especially, if those hose are 10yrs +), before refilling the coolant system. Also, I would've purchased straight coolant and mixed it myself with distilled water vs using antifreeze that's premixed with tap water. Just my 2 cents

This method will leave your system with wrong mix of coolant. he adds 50/50 at end but when your drain you don’t get all the water out. 10%-50% of water is still left so he should use coolant concentrate

@navy_guy95: There is also an engine block drain on the back side of the 1.5L if you wanted to get more out. Some say it’s worth it, some say it isn’t. I did it and was easy for me to get to though. The 28mm washer part number is 90401-PR4-000
