That's actually a yukata, not a kimono. One of the key differences between the two is that kimono have many layers and tend to be made out of thick cotton, silk or wool. Yuakatas are more simple with less layers made out of breathable cottons and linens, or a blend between the two sometimes.

I completely understand. My bf and I really wanted a quality onsen experience but he’s covered in tattoos so we decided to treat ourselves to a night at the Asaba ryokan in Izu (in room hot spring bath and private onsen). It’s more traditional luxury (built in 1484). Our room was surrounded by green garden—it was beautiful. All meals were served privately in room. We had the most incredible 12 course dinner sourced from a local farm. It was genuinely the most immaculate and tranquil experience of my life. This was 9 years ago and I remember every detail of our stay. We spent a frugal 4 weeks in Japan other than this night, but it was worth every penny 😌 We can’t wait to return to Japan now that our money is up lol
