I'm 34 and neurodiverse. I will say that I have the same kind of thing and I don't know if it's anxiety, ocd, or something else, but I would feel embarrassed if I order the same thing as someone else. I don't care if they order the same as me, but I can't order the same as them. Similar to her, I am not bothered by everyone sharing a home-cooked meal but I would be upset if I contributed to the meal (such as a dessert or side dish) and someone made the same thing. I got ignored a lot as a kid so I wonder if it's my way of "standing out".

At first I thought of this other Reddit story where op got annoyed that his girlfriend always ordered the same thing. The conclusion was that op wanted the chance to try 2 different dishes and the girlfriend was doing this to keep him from eating her food
