@nina0npurpose: My dad always tells me that me and my sister are blessed and I know he’s proud of his girls. I don’t think people realize that there are people still living with memories from the Jim Crow Era. My dad is such a strong man and I have so much respect for him and anyone that lived through segregation and Jim Crow Law. I appreciate being able to hear the stories and pass them down to my children. My grandparents were born in the 1920s but they never talked to me about what that time period was like. My grandfather worked until he was in his 80s and worked hard for everything he gave his family. I’m sure he remembered but he only told me stories of growing up on the farm and the wages he earned as a child. You don’t realize just how blessed you are until you are reminded of these stories. #blackhistoryfacts #BlackHistory #jimcrow #segregation #blessedlife
These stories need to be told, thank you for sharing!

My parents are both in their late 70s from SC, and the stories I've heard are horrible.

You should see if he’s willing to share more stories with you so you can share them with us. We have to talk about our history because the government is literally trying to erase it.💕

Wowwww. This is so interesting. That is insane. I would never go back to that restaurant again. This makes a lot of sense though. My grandmother was born in 1947, in NYC though where my family is from, and she had a thing where she always thought “anything white, was right” and it made me so sad for her bc my generation doesn’t accept that but you couldn’t change her mind about it. So sad what they went through.

I'm 73 and I lived through some the same things. I don't shop at Dillard's to this day. There are stores we couldn't try on clothes.😢
