I’ve seen this at least a dozen times. 100% accurate. If your company is centralized, the consultant tells you to decentralize. If your company is decentralized, the consultant tells you to centralize. Then they come back three years later and tell you the opposite.

Consultants come in, ask some questions of employees (impacting employees’ productivity), deliver a document containing their analysis & recommendations, then bill company for $450/hr. Doc contains observations & solutions that employees & lower mgt already told execs. Rest of the doc is copy/paste from docs delivered to other companies. Meanwhile, execs were “entertained” by consulting firm execs. No budget is put forth to achieve solutions. 4 years later, this cycle occurs again.

The company I work with hired a consultant from a very big different city and market, they tried to apply the strategies that worked there to our company in our little city, it didn't work at all, they left a mess.
