I did buy all my cars cash but cost so much in repairs that I decided to finance it with extended warranty and it’s more comfortable for me to expect a payment a month than spend an unexpected ££ of bills. My dad always tells me I should put me the money away.

That’s not always the case. Sometimes it’s worth financing a car even if you can afford to pay for it in cash. It’s all about the opportunity cost.

My car is my office. I can't have income without a car. I am in my car from 645am till 2200hrs. My life is in that car. Over the last 2 years i bought 3 cars totalling about 9k cash unfortunately they all end up costing me more in repairs. Everytime it breaks i had to spend a few days off the road and unfortunately no work no pay so those few days were costing me repairs and loss of income. Honestly i thought they were comfortable but i was lying because i was always tired with back and joint pains but i thought its not the car. Untilllllll!!! I got fed up and get a car on finance. I couldn't afford it cash so i had to borrow. I am tall so i got an suv. Its comfy its reliable it has warranty so i peace of mind. I never skipped work since. Sometimes buying cash isn't an option. Given the chance i will borrow again 😂😂 they are a lot of 0% apr in the market

£350 a month on a finance deal isn’t the same as 30 years of £350. Mis information.

Just bought a 23 plate as I wanted to treat myself for once but didn't want to get stuck in the PCP trap, so paid 10k out of pocket and stuck 7k on a personal loan, so only £185 per month. Definitely enjoying the car but is certainly a one off and will more than likely be going back to spending no more than about 8k on a car when it comes to selling this and buying another later down the line.

The principle is good BUT, what if you don’t have £15000 readily available to purchase a vehicle? What if you commute 600 miles a week to work and require something that’s comfortable and reliable?

Respectfully, cars are becoming more expensive, dramatically so in recent years. Some Countries have very high taxes on cars. Cars even 10 years old are more complex than cars 15 or 20 years old, so to avoid high repair bills, some will buy new to have a warranty. It is therefore more cost effective to have a car loan. I do not, but my car is 14 years old.

I think we all understand the maths. But what about depreciation protection, convenience motoring and wanting to drive a nice car with new technology. Everyones situation is different, but cash buying a range rover is the least smart option available surely, a PCP deal has offered protection for many people who could have additionally lost thousands…

1. When you get to the point in a pcp that you can voluntarily terminate it you’re typically only around 4 months from the end of the agreement anyway so hardly even worth it.

I have recently moved to an EV which is 0% for 4 years why would anyone pay cash for it? the new car is costing me and my wife just over £100 a week to run including insurance, charge and payment it's a car we need due to our families lifestyle of travelling most weekends over 200 miles to Anglesey. The savings I make from my previous petrol car are calculated on the Tesla app each time I charge so I just put what im saving into another account.
