@rendezvousgaming: We’ve all been there and most business owners have to learn the hard way. But once you learn the lesson, it sticks with you forever #sidehustle #partyrentals #sidehustleforbeginners #workfromhome #businessideas
I've been watching from early on. The shift from $300/ month to thousands? So excited for you thats happening!

One of my very first bookings I had to let a person come see the equipment in person. And I get it, they wanted to make sure I was legit. They immediately paid the deposit and it really only cost me about 15 min of my time to meet them.

I told someone no for the first time last night and I actually got a pleasant response from them saying they understood. I was so relieved because I was definitely worried about possible social media bashing.

We have vacation rentals and the same thing happens! Ticks me off after spending all my time messaging with them.

I know you've already explained this, but, sorry, I can't remember the answer. are you collecting the deposit and the cost of the rental up front. when you say they sign the rental contract, that includes paying for it too?

Amen! I’m a small business owner and looking back on some of the things I’d let slide in the beginning of my business makes me mad, at myself. Not every client is my client and I’m perfectly ok with that!

I am in sales and I can sense when somebody is gonna be difficult. Since I control my discount, I usually give them the I don’t wanna work with you, Price and then they never buy.

Do you have a website? When you started did you have a website ready when you launched? If so did you create the site yourself?

I feel like I am constantly answering questions only to be ghosted when I say we require a deposit or contract. It’s so frustrating!

We paint banners and stuff and require full payment upfront. We’ve had issues with a few not wanting to pay first and have nooo issue telling them we can’t put their order on our schedule until it’s fully paid for. No way are we risking painting for hours to not be compensated lol. People are wild.

Would you mind going over your conversation/booking process? I don’t currently have a website or booking system set up, and I feel like I’m getting overwhelmed with the amount of messages I’m managing every day 😅 I have a one and two year old, so trying to keep up with inquiries, invoices, inventory, etc. is becoming a lot.
Do you feel like getting a booking website/system in place was worth it for you? I originally avoided it to save money, but now I’m wondering if it would actually save me time and help me grow more efficiently.
I also love how organized and professional your responses/messages are. If you happen to have scripts/templates for how you respond to inquiries, explain deposits, bookings, etc., I honestly wouldn’t mind paying for them because I feel like it would save me so much time and stress 😂

My husband and I run an indoor sports facility and we do bday parties as well. It’s been 5 yrs and I have no problem saying no anymore. That first yr we got burned bc we said yes to everything. You don’t want to pay upfront for your turf rental? You have no rental. Bye bye!

Do you have a clause for someone to cancel due to weather? Do they still get a refund of any sort? We can’t control the weather but if that is booked - and they cancel bc they were planning an outside event- that day still could have been rented for someone else who may have something inside…?
